Hi everyone! This is Laura again, here to tell you about the benefits of low voltage outdoor lighting.
SAVE ENERGY WHILE YOU ENJOY OUTDOOR LIVING
Our full-service landscape and architectural low voltage lighting systems save energy while beautifying and protecting your home.
Our Evolving Commitment to Energy Efficiency and Conservation
Recognizing the importance of energy conservation, Outdoor Lighting Perspectives strives to make architectural and landscaping lighting systems energy efficient. Ultimately, we want to help our customers support this critical task.
Our supporting methods, products and practices include the following:
LOW VOLTAGE LIGHTING
The standard Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Northern Virginia lighting system is low voltage rather than line voltage. Our outdoor lighting system transformers are designed to reduce the standard 120-volt line voltage used throughout homes to low voltage 12-volt electricity, which emanates throughout our entire outdoor lighting systems.
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives uses 12-volt power from the transformer, to the wire, to the low-wattage bulbs. Thus lighting systems from Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Northern Virginia support energy efficiency while illuminating your home with soft, ambient accent lighting.
Our professionally designed low voltage lighting systems are precisely bright enough to illuminate a home’s exterior and landscaping at a cost about 50% to 60% less to operate than a standard 120-volt outdoor lighting system. To further energy conservation, our low voltage fixtures are strategically placed to highlight aspects of the architecture or landscaping, so light isn’t “wasted.”
HEAVIER-GAUGE WIRE, REDUCED VOLTAGE PER WIRE
The heavier the gauge of wire used in electrical systems, the less energy is lost as current travels through, which is why we use 10 gauge or 12-gauge wire in all of our systems. Also, voltage loss increases as more fixtures (or a higher load) are connected to a single wire run. To prevent this, we construct our systems with multiple wire runs, each carrying fewer fixtures (or a lower load) per run.
CHOICE OF LAMPS
Rather than incandescent bulbs, Outdoor Lighting Perspectives uses halogen bulbs which have an average lifespan of 4,000 hours. Our bulbs incorporate reflectors, which help to brighten and focus the resulting light without use of extra, unneeded watts.
AUTOMATION AND EASY SHUT-OFF
Our proprietary Lighting Control Automation system conserves energy by timing interior and exterior lighting and climate control functions using astronomical timers. This allows the lights to come on precisely at sunset each night and go off at the programmed time. It also features an automatic shut off capability that enables a homeowner to turn off lights in remote areas of the house with the push of a button.
